  1. Hi, I intend to make the same route this summer but in reverse order. I would like to know what’s the quality of the roads on the southern branches and if there are any places where I should be worried about the traffics.
    Thanks!

    • Hi, the roads that we passed on our route were generally ok, some of the minor roads are a bit potholed but nothing that couldn’t be negotiated with a touring type bike. The busiest road was the #11 between Esztergom and Szob, where a puncture had to be repaired in the roadside ditch with heavy lorries buzzing past very close by. It was just a few miles on the main road here.

    • Hello Sabin,
I too am considering the Budapest to Vienna route in September. Did you do the ride? If so, how was it? Any tips? Thanks!

      • Hi,
Sorry but no. I had to cancel it. I will go this august though.

  2. I am planning to cycle the Danube cycleway from Vienna to The Black Sea.
Has anyone done this and how long did it take you? Are there many camp sites along the way?
